Rahul Gandhi's Call for Peace: Urging PM Modi to Restore Normalcy in Manipur

Indian politician Rahul Gandhi has called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to "restore peace and normalcy" in Manipur, a northeastern state of India that has been hit by violence in recent weeks. Gandhi, who is a member of the Indian National Congress party and a former president of the party, made the appeal on his Twitter account.

The violence in Manipur is said to be related to a territorial dispute between two ethnic groups, the Meiteis and the Nagas. Reports suggest that clashes between the two groups have led to a number of deaths and the displacement of thousands of people from their homes.

Gandhi's call for peace comes amid growing concerns about the situation in Manipur. Several other politicians, including members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have also spoken out about the need for calm in the state.

The Indian government has deployed additional security forces to Manipur to try and restore order. However, there are fears that the situation could escalate further if the underlying issues are not addressed.

Gandhi's appeal to the Prime Minister comes at a time when the Congress party is seeking to re-establish itself as a viable alternative to the BJP. The party suffered a heavy defeat in the 2019 general election and has since been working to rebuild its support base.
